EDUCE HOME 2

Providing you, the home owner, with the maximum control of your indoor environment begins with the provision of a well insulated, air tight, structurally sound building enclosure.  This allows your heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems to operate at their maximum efficiency using the least amount of energy possible.

One of EDUCE HOME's key eco-technologies is the incorporation of 'Structurally Insulated Panels', or SIPs for short,  in the building enclosure of EDUCE homes. The panels can be used for walls, roofs and floors, and when coupled with high performing doors and windows can provide a virtually air tight enclosure.

SIPs are a “sandwich” panel of oriented strand board (OSB) structurally laminated to a continuous core of expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation.

The structural characteristics of a SIP panel eliminate the need for lumber studs, joists and rafters. The result is a significantly higher effective R value for a SIP panel compared to an equivalent thickness conventional insulated stud wall.

SIPs are pre-fabricated in an environmentally controlled factory and shipped to the site for erection, dramatically reducing construction time and cost.
